The MAJOR Series of Poker: The Tour — formerly known as the Mid-Stakes Poker Tour (but still abbreviated as MSPT) — rolled into FireKeepers Casino in Michigan for its $1,100 Spade Poker Championship, and the players came out for a chance at a very nice payday.
The $1.5 million guarantee was easily shattered by 2,773 entries over three starting flights, generating a prize pool of $2,688,310.
Officially a two-day event, 307 players returned for the second and final day that would seem to go on forever. But when all the dust was settled, it was Merritt Kuhn who would end up with all the chips and a $339,115 payday. It is his largest tournament poker cash, dwarfing the $84,267 he just won for finishing third in the $1,700 Main Event at World Series of Poker Circuit Hammond just last month.
Kuhn only started adding to his Hendon Mob page last year, and his top three cashes all came in 2025.
Runner-up Raymond Mancini of Sarasota, Fla., also beat his career-best he won by finishing second in the $800 bracelet event at the 2024 World Series of Poker for $246,031. He won $268,049 in Michigan. His cash put him about $200,000 shy of breaking the $1 million lifetime tournament cash mark.
Third-place finisher Brian Jones, who makes his home in Mebane, North Carolina, added $172,720 to his lifetime stack of $156,000. His best before making a deep run at FireKeepers Casino was $20,972 for finishing second in a $400 WSOP Circuit event in 2023 at Cherokee North Carolina.
Michael McFadden also bagged his first six-figure score in this event, winning $134,711. His best before this was for $25,000 for making it to 792-place in the 2024 WSOP Main Event.
Roger Khoury also pulled a six-figure cash for the first time in his life for finishing fifth. He has plenty of deep runs playing online, and although he’s made tons of final tables in WSOP Circuit rings events, he has yet to lock a victory up.
The MSPT is now at the Playground in Montreal for the Canada Poker Championship, a $1,150 event that starts tomorrow (Oct. 15). It then heads to Riverside Casino in Iowa Oct. 28 to Nov. 2, before heading back east to Ameristar East Chicago Nov. 18-23.
