World Series of Poker Main Event Champion Micheal “the Grinder” Mizrachi will be at the Atlantis Paraside Island in the Bahamas starting today for the World Tournament of Slots.
“This year’s WTOS promises to be our most incredible event yet. The spirit, excitement and competitive camaraderie of our players make this tournament truly unforgettable, and we can’t wait to see who will claim the $1m grand prize,” Playstudios Head of Corporate Marketing David Pascal said.
Sponsored and hosted by the social gambling slot company Playstudios, the competition invited 500 of the world’s best slots player to compete for a $1 million prize. It starts today and end Oct. 26.
Officially called the 2025 myVIP World Tournament of Slots, this is the second year for the contest.
Mizrachi isn’t playing in the event, but will engage with the players as sort of a celebratory VIP. Joining him is actress and former Playboy Playmate Jenny McCarthy and television personality Heather Dubrow.
Mizrachi made history this summer by becoming the first person to win both the $50,000 Poker Players Championship and the Main Event at the WSOP in one year. That accomplishment got Mizrachi instantly inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame after his Main Event win.
Poker Palace sold
The Poker Palace Casino, a local establishment opened in 1951 near Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, has been sold to Truckee Gaming, based out of Reno, for more than $20 million.
It’s the 11th casino for Truckee Gaming’s portfolio. Most of the casinos are located in north Nevada, but this will be the second casino owned by the company located in Las Vegas, joining Club Fortune Casino in Henderson.
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the land and the building was purchased for $9.4 million, with the rest going towards gambling operations.
The casino, popular with locals and members of the Air Force, closed Sept. 30, right after a deal was made with previous owners, the Coleman family, to start renovations that the company promises will turn the beat-down property into completely new casino. It’s excepted to reopened sometime next year.
Player hits big in Las Vegas
A lucky slots player in Las Vegas turned a $3 bet into more than a million at Sunset Station casino last Friday.
“Congratulations to a local guest on hitting an incredible $1,048,675.87 jackpot playing IGT’s Wheel of Fortune Cash Link Big Money at Sunset Station last night!” the Sunset Station Hotel and Casino posted on Facebook.
The reason the amount was so big was the player hit a progressive jackpot, which grows every time a player across all of the casino’s properties makes a bet on the Wheel of Fortune machines.
The player could receive the jackpot winnings as a discounted lump-sum payout, or take it all through a multi-year annuity.
