Borgata Will Host Three Major Poker Series this Fall

Major poker returned to the Borgata in Atlantic City this year with its Summer Poker Open, and the MGM Resort International-owned casino will continue getting back into the tournament game by hosting three series this fall: The Borgata Big, Big Buy Series, the Lions of the Atlantic and the Borgata Fall Poker Open.

The casino will also open its new BetMGM Poker Tournament Room at Borgata on Sept. 7, with a party. According to its website, “the BetMGM Poker Tournament Room at Borgata has 18 tables and showcases the growth of the partnership and the online-to-live ecosystem of MGM Resorts International and BetMGM.”

BetMGM is the company’s online suite, which, of course, includes poker.

The Borgata will break-in its new tournament area the very next day with the start of the Borgata Big, Big Buy Series powered by BetMGM Sept. 8–Sept. 17, which features nine events and more than $6.5 million in guarantees. Some of the highlights include:

  • The $1 million guaranteed Big, Big Kick Off (Sept. 8-9): A $2,200 event with two Day 1 flights.
  • Etay’s Big, Big 9 Game Mix (Sept. 9–10): A $2,500 buy-in with a $250,000 guarantee event with Esther ‘ETay’ Taylor. Over the summer, Taylor became only the second woman WSOP’s history to reach the final table at the Poker Players Championship.
  • The $2,200 Big, Big PKO Bounty (Sept. 10-11): A Progressive Knock Out Bounty with a half-a-million guarantee.
  • The BetMGM Big, Big Baller (Sept. 11 – 12): A $10,000 buy-in with a $500,000 guarantee where entry fees will be covered by BetMGM Poker via credit to players’ online accounts.

Also part of this series is the $5,300 BetMGM Poker Millionaire Championship Sept. 13–17. This event has a $3 million guarantee, and the winner will take home at least $1 million.

Next up is the Lions of the Atlantic powered by BetMGM, running Oct. 8-19. This will be the casino’s first event that takes place across two of its properties, MGM National Harbor near Washington. D.C. and the Borgata. The $600 event with a $2 million guarantee will have a total of 10 starting flights split between the two properties.

The first five flights take place at MGM National Harbor Oct. 8-12, with the next five running at the Borgata Oct. 14-17. Players who make it to Day 2 resume playing at the Borgata on Oct. 18. Every Day 2 seat includes a two-night stay at the Borgata.

After that, it’s the Borgata Fall Poker Open powered by BetMGM Nov. 3-17. The full schedule will be released in late September, but the casino promises more than $2 million in guarantees.

Online satellites for players in New Jersey, Michigan and Pennsylvania that start as low as $5 are now running on BetMGM. In-person satellites are also on both casino’s schedules.

“These three events directly demonstrate the growth of BetMGM Poker and our continued partnership with Borgata,” said David Mileaf, senior manager of poker operations at BetMGM. “By bringing bigger buy-ins, larger prize pools and a diverse tournament structure to players this fall, we cement our status as the premier online and on-property poker destinations.”
