Galaxy Entertainment Group Follows Macau Trend with Simplified Baccarat Side Bets
Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd is aligning with a growing trend among Macau casino operators by streamlining side bet options on its live-dealer baccarat tables. Recent visits to Galaxy Macau, the company’s flagship Cotai property, and StarWorld Hotel in downtown Macau revealed a clear shift toward offering a reduced selection of side bets to players.
Simplified Side Bet Offerings
At Galaxy Macau and StarWorld’s main gaming floors, players currently see the side bets ‘Small 6/Big 6,’ ‘Small 7/Big 7,’ and ‘Super Lucky 7’ available simultaneously at baccarat tables. Noticeably absent were the ‘Lucky 6’ and ‘Lucky 7’ side bets, which had been introduced market-wide last year but are now less prevalent at Galaxy’s venues.
This trend toward simplified betting options follows observations made by GGRAsia and corroborated by banking firm Citigroup’s survey, which noted that other casino rivals such as Wynn Macau, MGM China, and Melco Resorts have already pared down their baccarat side bet offerings. SJM Holdings Ltd has also adopted similarly streamlined side bet layouts across its main floors and high-limit baccarat zones.
